Assinment 3: Storyboard

Narratives: Interaction Space

My assignment3 video based on my own knowledge reflects the latest interaction LED products which could be applied in various aspects of building design. These LCD interaction technologies which use LED lights or LED tubes can create meaningful relationships between people and the space. Undoubtedly, this kind of interactional practice brings an amazing as well as inspiring feeling to its all users.LED interaction techniques which we are most familiar with mainly include: mood wall, interaction floor, interactional lighting, all of which are using LED products.

The mood wall is also known as interactive wallpaper which is usually made from LEDs behind a ribbed semi-transparent wall. The curves in the wall make it less vulnerable to graffiti and improve visibility. It interacts with people passing by, meanwhile creates wonderful feelings and happy atmosphere.

Interaction lighting can be achieved by using LCD techniques and it belongs to latest LCD products. It can display real-time 3-D animated images and dynamic pattern which controlled by computer and interact with people by single point touch or induction touch. Thus, it is suit for public space.

However, interactivities are not only about space feeling, it need to be considered with energy saving. Replacing incandescent bulbs with energy-saving lighting options, such as LED lights or LCD tube, is a simple way to reduce energy consume. In fact, innovative LED technology uses up to 85 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs, without sacrificing lighting quality.

Interactivity, however, is not limited to technological systems. It can also apply to other types of non-electronic products and services, and even organizations. Also, people have been interacting with each other as long as humans have been a species. Therefore, interaction design can be applied to the development of all solutions (or offerings), such as services and events.

The story for Assignment2

The story is about “Hutongs”, which is an unique traditional feather of China neighborhood. The whole story begins in a typical Chinese Hutong in 1980s, and shows what the life was like at that time. Then, the time flies to 2010, the present, and people’s life in such neighborhood has changed a lot. The same place, but the old fade out while new stories happened. During these 20 years, China's rapid development has forced such traditional elements to rely on chaotic, spontaneous renovations to survive the ever-changing neighborhood. Thus, the “future of Hutongs” needs modern changes which could stimulate healthy activities and communications to turn this typical neighborhood into lively living space in Chinese mage cities and finally find a balance between the old and new.
